After fifteen rounds of voting, the House of Representatives has selected Representative Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House. In response to the election, Congresswoman Robin Kelly issued the following statement:
Today, Representative Robin L. Kelly (IL-02) announced $17,534,241 in Community Project Funding that she previously secured for Illinois’s 2nd District in the House spending bills has been included in the final 2023 appropriations government funding package. This funding responds directly to some of the most pressing needs in the Second District.
Today, ten years ago, 26 people, including 20 young children, were murdered in their classrooms at Sandy Hook Elementary School. On this day, we are obligated to take the time to remember the lives that were tragically cut short by gun violence in a place meant to nurture and grow young minds. |
