About the Congressional Youth Cabinet

Since 2019, Congresswoman Robin L. Kelly has called together high school students in Illinois’ Second Congressional District to join her Congressional Youth Cabinet (CYC). A nonpartisan initiative, the CYC is designed to inspire students to become civically engaged and inform the office on youth-related policies impacting the community. The CYC will also provide students with a unique opportunity to better understand how Congress and the policymaking process work.

As a member of the CYC, students will commit to meeting on a monthly basis and have the opportunity to meet with Congresswoman Kelly, participate in community service events, lectures with guest speakers and partake in internal policy debates.

Eligibility for the 2024 – 2025 Congressional Youth Cabinet:

Applicants should be juniors or seniors in school for the 2024-2025 school year. If appointed, members will serve a one-year term.
