The free, one-hour workshops will help prepare job-seekers for Rep. Kelly's 2nd annual Hiring Event on Friday, October 24, from 9 to noon, in the gymnasium of South Suburban College, 15800 State St., South Holland. Congresswoman Robin Kelly announced today that the Homewood Fire Department was awarded a $1.8 million federal grant that will benefit 18 south suburban fire departments. Homewood applied for the grant on behalf of the region's joint dispatch center and was supported in its efforts by Congresswoman Robin Kelly.
The funding will assist with the purchase of portable radios and firefighter training. Made available through the Department of Homeland Security, the grant will also benefit the Village of Park Forest.
