Matteson, IL - Congresswoman Robin Kelly announced today that five additional south suburban fire departments will receive federal grants totaling more than $1.2 million.
This is the third round of grants awarded to south suburban fire departments. This latest round brings a total of $3.2 million in federal funds to 19 south suburban fire departments.
Congresswoman Robin Kelly will host her 7th Annual Hiring Event for residents of the 2nd Congressional District on Friday, October 4, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the Lan-Oak Park District, 2550 178th St., Lansing. More than 50 employers with active job openings will be in attendance.
Companies participating this year include FedEx Ground, Metra Rail, U.S. Courts, Franciscan Health, Illinois Tollway, Pace Suburban Bus, and many more.

Aunt Martha's Health & Wellness, along with four other community health centers in the South Suburbs and on Chicago's South Side, have been awarded a total of $273,000 in federal grants from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services.
The U.S. Post Office in Olympia Fields, IL will soon be renamed for Captain Robert L. Martin, a highly decorated Tuskegee Airman. Legislation authored by Congresswoman Robin Kelly in late February was signed into law by President Trump on August 21st, 2019. The U.S. House of Representatives approved the renaming legislation on April 30th, 2019 and the U.S. Senate concurred on August 1st, 2019; all Members of the Illinois Congressional delegation co-sponsored the bill.
