Congresswoman Robin Kelly released this statement on the shameful mob violence that occurred at the U.S. Capitol today.

"The tragic shooting rampage that left three Chicago area residents dead and four wounded is a clear call to action for the new Congress to immediately pass long overdue gun violence prevention legislation, including universal background checks, straw purchases, and interstate gun trafficking that's responsible for more than half of the guns used to commit crimes in Chicago.

Matteson, IL – On Wednesday, Congresswoman Robin Kelly announced that federal grants totaling $476,820 have been awarded to three community health centers on Chicago's South Side and in the South Suburbs.

Washington, D.C. – On Thursday, Democratic members of the Illinois delegation wrote to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services endorsing the state's waiver request to expand care access to new moms for the entire postpartum period.

In endorsing the waiver request, they wrote: "Illinois' waiver request demonstrates innovative solutions to the maternal mortality crisis and embodies the intent of Congress in creating the Medicaid program to provide medical assistance to our nation's most vulnerable populations."

Washington, D.C. – In recognition of National Gun Violence Survivors Week, Congresswoman Robin Kelly reintroduced three key gun violence prevention bills for the 117^th Congress.

"I honor the strength and advocacy of our survivors by introducing commonsense gun reforms that will protect our families from losing precious loved ones through senseless gun violence," Congresswoman Kelly said. "With a new Administration and a new Senate, I believe we have a good chance to pass meaningful legislation."
