Rep. Kelly elected Vice Chair of Energy and Commerce Committee

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Robin Kelly was elected as Vice Chair of the Energy and Commerce Committee. She will serve as the Vice Chair of the full Committee for the 117th Congress. The Congresswoman released this statement following today's vote:
"I am honored to serve as the Vice Chair of the Energy and Commerce Committee in the 117th Congress. I look forward to addressing issues of vital and immediate concern to the American people — issues that have been neglected or mismanaged by the current administration. Those concerns include crushing the virus and restoring our economy, lowering prescription drug costs, access to affordable health care for all Americans, infrastructure, broadband, cybersecurity, combating climate change, as well as privacy and consumer protection.
"I will work closely with Chairman Frank Pallone, our subcommittee chairs and my colleagues to achieve results for the American people that will ensure their health and safety and bring good-paying jobs to our communities. It's time for all of Congress to work together in a bipartisan manner to pass legislation that will significantly improve the lives and livelihoods of Americans."
In the role, the Vice Chair will:
(i) Preside at full Committee hearings or markups when the Chairman is not present;
(ii) Serve as a liaison to the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee (DPCC);
(iii) Help coordinate and develop messaging for markups and high-profile hearings; and
(iv) Serve as the whip for markups, high profile hearings and other committee activities.
