May 17, 2023

SPRINGFIELD, IL Today, the Illinois State Senate passed a measure to require the Illinois Department of Transportation to begin the process of engaging private developers with interest in building a cargo airport in the south suburbs, a significant step forward in the effort to build a cargo hub in the area. This legislation passed with bipartisan support in the Illinois House and Senate and now goes to the Governor’s desk for signature.

Springfield, IL – Today, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker signed legislation to require the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to begin the process of engaging private developers with interest in building a cargo airport in the south suburbs.

Since the horrific Hamas terrorist attack on October 7th, I have thoughtfully engaged with communities who have a stake in the future of the Palestinian and Israeli people. I take my responsibility as a Member of Congress and defender of American interests seriously, and I do not consider our role in this conflict lightly.

Today, I am calling for a renewed, bilateral ceasefire agreement and I urge both Israel and Hamas to explore all possible paths to achieve a just and lasting peace.

This $350 million investment in the south side of Chicago will bring much-needed transportation access and economic opportunities to many historically under-resourced communities.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Robin Kelly (IL-02) led the reintroduction of the Access to Birth Control Act. The legislation would guarantee patients’ timely access to birth control, both prescribed and over the counter, at pharmacies nationwide. In April, U.S. Senators Cory Booker (D-NJ) and Patty Murray (D-WA) introduced companion legislation in the Senate.
