With young people "shaming" adults to do more to prevent gun violence, U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly, speaking at a Park Forest church, said "we need their help" to enact stricter laws.

Kelly's talk at St. Irenaeus Church came Sunday — a day after youth around the country took part in "March for Our Lives" rallies. Kelly said she hoped the momentum of the movement would result in more young people registering to vote and casting ballots in fall elections.

Matteson, IL – Recently, the National Human Trafficking Hotline released new data showing that 193 cases of human trafficking were reported in Illinois via the Hotline in 2017. The BeFree Textline also released data showing 9 reported cases in Illinois. Nationwide, more than 70 percent of human trafficking cases reported to the Hotline concern sex trafficking.

Congresswoman Robin Kelly hosted a Housing Expo Saturday at Prairie State College that provided resources for distressed homeowners and first-time homebuyers, and information on improving credit, appealing property taxes, and more.

Participants learned about the Hardest Hit Program, the process of obtaining a loan, and tax cuts associated with homebuying. This year, the scope of the Housing Expo was expanded to include information on investment properties for those seeking to purchase and rehabilitate abandoned properties with the goal of returning them to the tax rolls.

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Robin Kelly re-introduced four gun safety bills aimed at significantly reducing gun violence in our schools, homes and city streets.

If enacted, these bills will keep guns out of the hands of dangerous individuals including stalkers, reduce accidental death and injury by issuing basic firearm safety standards, and require a Surgeon General report on the impact of gun violence on the public's health.
