Washington, DC – Congresswoman Robin Kelly re-introduced four gun safety bills aimed at significantly reducing gun violence in our schools, homes and city streets.
If enacted, these bills will keep guns out of the hands of dangerous individuals including stalkers, reduce accidental death and injury by issuing basic firearm safety standards, and require a Surgeon General report on the impact of gun violence on the public's health.

On the House floor, she said, "on a day when school children should be thinking about baseball tryouts, prom and college selections, again they head to school living the reality that a gun may strike them down at any moment."

In "Making Background Checks Work" (Op-Ed, Feb. 13), John R. Lott Jr. desperately tries to push one of the gun lobby's favorite narratives: that background checks are bad for public safety.
The main pillar of Mr. Lott's argument is that our underfunded, underresourced and broken background check system prevents "good guys" from getting guns.
An Illinois Democrat says she's found a way to please everyone in her diverse district with legislation that would alleviate Chicago-area "food deserts" by lifting a barrier to fruit and vegetable production in rural areas.
Rep. Robin Kelly's "Feeding America through Farm Flexibility Act" would modify a rule that disincentivizes farmers of major commodities, such as corn and wheat, from switching production to fruits and vegetables.
