With young people "shaming" adults to do more to prevent gun violence, U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly, speaking at a Park Forest church, said "we need their help" to enact stricter laws.

Kelly's talk at St. Irenaeus Church came Sunday — a day after youth around the country took part in "March for Our Lives" rallies. Kelly said she hoped the momentum of the movement would result in more young people registering to vote and casting ballots in fall elections.

An Illinois Democrat says she's found a way to please everyone in her diverse district with legislation that would alleviate Chicago-area "food deserts" by lifting a barrier to fruit and vegetable production in rural areas.

Rep. Robin Kelly's "Feeding America through Farm Flexibility Act" would modify a rule that disincentivizes farmers of major commodities, such as corn and wheat, from switching production to fruits and vegetables.

WASHINGTON — Democratic women in Congress took President Trump to task Saturday for defending those accused of abuse, but not mentioning the victims who have endured violence.

"What about the women? ...Their lives have been scarred forever,'' Rep. Jackie Speier, D-Calif., who helps lead an effort to address sexual harassment on Capitol Hill, told USA TODAY. "Or the fact that domestic violence has no place in our society and no place in the White House. That should have been the statement."

Prairie State College in Chicago Heights has been awarded a $938,447 grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration to create job training centers in welding and machining at various community locations throughout the South Suburbs, U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly announced Monday.

The investment will support workforce development efforts throughout the region, which will create jobs and boost manufacturing and logistic sectors locally, the announcement stated.

On December 21, 2017 the U.S. Senate passed Congresswoman Robin Kelly's Connected Government Act (H.R. 2331). The bill now heads to the president's desk for his signature.

"Quite simply, this bill will put nearly all government services in your pocket," said Congresswoman Kelly. The legislation mandates that all updated and redesigned federal government websites be mobile-friendly.
