Robin Kelly (IL-02) awarded $1 million in Community Project Funding to By The Hand Club for Kids, a free holistic after-school care organization dedicated to critical violence intervention and prevention. As part of the Altgeld Gardens Youth Entrepreneurship Accountability and Empowerment Program, students plant and grow vegetables in a shipping container converted into a farm, which Rep. Robin Kelly (IL-02) joined local elected officials and the Economic Alliance of Kankakee County today at the David Bradley Industrial Park campus to celebrate the repaired roof of the historic warehouse. In 2024, Rep. Kelly secured $4.1 million in federal funds to repair the roof of the 130-year-old building.

WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly (IL-02) condemned U.S. House Republicans for jamming through the Big, Ugly Bill to meet an arbitrary deadline. Due to the $1 trillion cuts to Medicaid, 17 million Americans will lose their healthcare, including nearly half a million in Illinois and almost 40,000 in the Second District.

WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly (IL-02) released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed budget reconciliation instructions by 216-214. The budget directs the Energy and Commerce Committee, on which Rep. Kelly sits, to cut Medicaid by $880 billion.
“The Republican budget betrays the American people. Republicans voted to slash Medicaid by $880 billion — the largest cut in history — which jeopardizes over 300,000 of my constituents’ healthcare. That’s almost half of the people living in the Second District.
