"I am extremely disappointed that my Republican colleagues, Congressmen Peter Roskam (IL-06), Mike Bost (IL-12), Rodney Davis (IL-13), Randy Hultgren (IL-14), John Shimkus (IL-15), Adam Kinzinger (IL-16) and Darin LaHood (IL-18), voted to hike taxes on the middle class, automatically cut $25 million from Medicare and add $1.5 trillion to the deficit.

Washington, DC – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passed the Connected Government Act (H.R. 2331), authored by Congresswoman Robin Kelly. This bipartisan bill would ensure that all government websites are mobile-friendly.

"With more than 40 percent of web traffic to government websites coming from mobile devices, it's basic good government to make certain that government websites work on all devices Americans use," said Congresswoman Kelly, top Democrat on the Oversight Committee's Information Technology (IT) subcommittee.

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Robin Kelly spoke on the House floor against the proposed GOP tax plan that would raise taxes on working and middle class families.

Under the proposed GOP plan, key deductions and credits that help Illinois families will be reduced or eliminated resulting in a higher tax bill for these families. The GOP plan is also estimated to add $1.5 trillion to the national deficit.

I'd like to applaud the Daily Journal for its recent "Do away with those unwanted drugs" editorial because ending this epidemic is up to each and every one of us.

Far too often, addiction begins with leftover medicine so these "take back'' measures are important to preventing addiction. In 2016, Kankakee County lost 14 people to the opioid epidemic.

If passed, a new bill would allow grain crop farmers to grow fruits and vegetables on more of their farm program base acres. With the goal of attaching the legislation to the next farm bill, Rep. Robin Kelly, D-Ill., and Rep. Mike Bost, R-Ill., cosponsored legislation called "Feeding America through Farm Flexibility Act of 2017." The proposed law would allow grain farmers to plant an additional 5% of their commodity crop base acres to vegetables if the extra harvest is sold or donated into a food desert with a poverty rate of at least 20%, according to the text of the bill.

"In 2017, starting or growing your family shouldn't mean putting your life at risk," said Congresswoman Robin Kelly.

The event consisted of comments from families who've lost a loved one following childbirth.

The 5th annual Hiring Event featured more than 70 companies and agencies with active job openings, including Amazon, Nike, UPS, ComEd,, the U.S. Post Office, Franciscan Health, MiJack and the Cook County Sheriff's Department.
