WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly (IL-02) released the following statement after the House passed the partisan reconciliation bill that gives $70 billion to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection:
“ICE Gestapo agents terrorized—and continue to terrorize—Black and Brown communities in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. Their oversized budget is larger than other countries’ entire defense spending, yet Republicans gifted another $70 billion to fund their cruel agenda. I voted NO.
WASHINGTON – The Energy and Commerce Committee passed U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly’s (IL-02) bill addressing safety concerns with electric vehicle doors. The Securing Accessible Functional Emergency (SAFE) Exit Act will establish the first federal standard for electric vehicle doors. In several cases, passengers and drivers have been trapped inside electric cars after a crash or power loss. At least 15 people have died in a Tesla due to its doors not opening after crashing.
