MATTESON, IL – Congresswoman Robin Kelly (IL-02), Vice Chair of the Congressional Gun Violence Prevention Task Force and Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus Health Braintrust, today launched a survey for constituents to share their personal experiences with the gun violence epidemic. Rep. Kelly has introduced a resolution to mark June as Gun Violence Awareness Month in honor of Hadiya Pendleton, who was killed in Chicago in 2013.

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) and U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) today introduced a resolution in the Senate establishing June 4, 2021, as "National Gun Violence Awareness Day" and designating June as "National Gun Violence Awareness Month." U.S. Representative Robin Kelly (D-IL-02) has introduced a companion resolution in the House.

The bill was re-introduced with 25 original cosponsors.

The Helping to Encourage Real Opportunity (HERO) for Youth Act and the Creating Pathways for Youth Employment Act will increase federal resources for communities seeking to create or grow employment programs and provide tax incentives to businesses and employers to hire and retain youth from economically distressed areas.
