US Rep. Robin Kelly on Supreme Court mifepristone decision: ‘This fight is far from over’

WASHINGTON, D.C.– Today, Congresswoman Robin Kelly (IL-02) applauded the Supreme Court’s unanimous decision in Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine v. FDA to protect mifepristone, a drug used in most medication abortions.  

“Today's decision is a victory for reproductive rights but make no mistake – this fight is far from over,” said Congresswoman Kelly. “The fact that mifepristone, a drug that’s been approved for over 20 years, was even brought to question in front of the Supreme Court proves that anti-choice extremists have been emboldened. This could have been a dangerous precedent to overturn decades-old scientific approval of medication that has been safe and effective. We celebrate this win today and come back tomorrow stronger for the fundamental right to choose. Healthcare decisions should always be made between patients and doctors, not politicians.”
