Rep. Robin Kelly Celebrates $2 Billion Lithium Battery Plant Coming to Kankakee County

Matteson, IL – Congresswoman Robin Kelly (IL-02) celebrated the announcement that electric vehicle battery manufacturer Gotion will open a new $2 billion lithium battery plant in Kankakee County. This project brings an estimated 2,600 full-time jobs to the Village of Manteno and the surrounding community.

This announcement is part of the national trend of global renewable energy leaders choosing to manufacture in the United States, thanks to the incentives passed by Congress in the Inflation Reduction Act.

"This announcement shows that Illinois is at the heart of clean energy innovation," said Congresswoman Robin Kelly. “I am committed to seeing more clean energy manufacturing prosper in our state, thanks to the incentives I helped pass as part of the Inflation Reduction Action.”
