Rep. Kelly Releases Statement on President Biden’s Announcement of Sanctions Against Russia

MATTESON, IL – Congresswoman Robin L. Kelly (IL-02) released the following statement in response to President Biden’s announcement of economic sanctions against Russia:

“President Putin is leading Russia down a dangerous and painful path. We will recognize and support the sovereignty of Ukraine. It is my hope that the sanctions announced today by President Biden will deter further aggression by Russia and demonstrate that Ukraine is not alone in its fight for democracy. Congress stands ready to introduce further sanctions should conditions deteriorate.

Together, we will support democracy worldwide and ensure that our allies are protected. I am confident that President Biden, his administration, and my colleagues in Congress will do everything in our power to protect America’s historic economic growth and limit potential impacts to American consumers."
