Congresswoman Kelly Calls for Action to Celebrate Dr. King Day
Matteson, IL - Congresswoman Robin Kelly attended a celebration at Christ Community Church in South Holland. Today, she spoke at a South Suburban College event. She released this statement marking Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day:
"Today, our nation pauses to remember the life and legacy of Dr. King.
His example continues to challenge us to greater action and to speak up for our rights and the rights of others.
We must work together to serve our community and uplift our fellow Americans.
Now, more than ever, we must learn Dr. King's lessons of hard work, non-violence, activism, engagement and cooperation.
As Dr. King said: 'everyone can be great. Because anyone can serve.'
Today, let us recommit to those efforts that bend the arc of history toward justice."
