CBC Health Braintrust Chair Dr. Robin Kelly Statement on the Passing of Founding Chair Louis Stokes
Today, U.S. Congresswoman Robin Kelly (D-IL) released the following statement on the passing of former Congressman Louis Stokes, founding chair of the Congressional Black Caucus Health Braintrust.
"I am deeply saddened by the passing of former Congressman Louis Stokes, the founding chair of the Congressional Black Caucus Health Braintrust. As the first chair of the CBC Health Braintrust, Mr. Stokes served as the conscious of the Congress on health equity and shepherded the Caucus' work in addressing health disparities. He was dedicated to the health equity movement and to ensuring that all Americans have the ability to lead healthy lives. His life's work in advancing public health culminated in the honor of having Howard University's health sciences library bear his name. The loss of Mr. Stokes, as is his impact on the public health space, is immeasurable. His legacy will live on through the work of the CBC Health Braintrust."
