Washington, DC – Today, the House Energy and Commerce Committee Subcommittee on Health held a hearing on America's alarming maternal mortality rate and legislation designed to address this growing crisis. The Subcommittee examined four bills, including Congresswoman Kelly's MOMMA's Act.

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Robin Kelly (D-IL), Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-NJ) and Congressman Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO) sent a letter to Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella. The letter requested clarifying information about Microsoft's decision to eliminate forced arbitration in sexual harassment cases.

The inquiry's findings will contribute to larger federal reporting and fact-finding efforts to craft a national response to America's shocking and growing maternal morality rate.

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Robin Kelly has introduced H.R. 4387, the Maternal Health Quality Improvement Act (MHQIA), aimed at reducing the alarming rate of maternal deaths in America and saving mothers' lives.

In the United States, there is an estimated 700 pregnancy-related deaths per year and 60 percent of these are considered preventable. The crisis is most severe for Black mothers in America, who are dying at 3 to 4 times the rate of their white counterparts.

To answer the question, former Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper cited the MOMMA's Act, introduced by Congresswoman Robin Kelly.

Congresswoman Robin Kelly will host a Black Women and Girls forum to address the epidemic of missing women and girls in the Chicago area.

The free interactive forum, "My Sister's Keeper," will take place Saturday, March 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Chicagoland Christian Center (929 E. 103rd Street, Chicago).

Co-chaired and co-founded by Congresswoman Kelly, the Congressional Caucus on Black Women and Girls specifically addresses the needs of black women and girls, their families and their communities.

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Robin Kelly hosted a packed Congressional briefing on maternal health and mortality because American women are more likely to die from childbirth or childbirth complication than women in any other developed nation.

"In 2017, starting or growing your family shouldn't mean putting your life at risk," said Congresswoman Robin Kelly.

The event consisted of comments from families who've lost a loved one following childbirth.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Robin Kelly (IL-02) led the reintroduction of the Access to Birth Control Act. The legislation would guarantee patients’ timely access to birth control, both prescribed and over the counter, at pharmacies nationwide. In April, U.S. Senators Cory Booker (D-NJ) and Patty Murray (D-WA) introduced companion legislation in the Senate.
