Chicago, IL – Congresswoman Robin Kelly, vice chair of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, released this statement following President Trump's decision to exclude Chicago's and Illinois' elected officials from his "discussion" of Chicago, which will be hosted in New Jersey – 768 miles away:

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Robin Kelly again took to the House floor demanding a vote on bipartisan legislation to end gun violence.
Today, Congresswoman Kelly counted dollars 51 to 100 of Speaker Ryan's contributions from the NRA and honored the memories of 50 young people, ages 2-16, killed by gun violence in Chicagoland over the past 18 months. Her speech is available here.

Illinois Congresswoman Robin Kelly recently held a press conference alongside several highly regarded doctors to demand congressional action when it comes to gun violence across the nation. The press conference was held in Washington D.C. and included comments from Dr. Niva Lubin-Johnson who is a physician at Mercy Hospital in Chicago.

"The tragic shooting rampage that left three Chicago area residents dead and four wounded is a clear call to action for the new Congress to immediately pass long overdue gun violence prevention legislation, including universal background checks, straw purchases, and interstate gun trafficking that's responsible for more than half of the guns used to commit crimes in Chicago.
