U.S. Representative Robin Kelly is sponsoring an annual Congressional Art Competition open to high school students residing or attending a school within the Second Congressional District. The winner will have the opportunity to attend a ceremony in Washington D.C. this summer and their artwork will be displayed at the U.S. Capitol for one year.

Students can submit their artwork from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Rep. Kelly's district office, located at 600 Holiday Plaza Drive, Suite 505, Matteson. The deadline for submissions is April 8 at 4 p.m.

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Robin Kelly (IL-02) spoke at a press conference on Capitol Hill today as Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (MA-07), Speaker-Emerita Nancy Pelosi, and House Appropriations Committee Ranking Member DeLaura released a groundbreaking report. The report by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) found that Black girls nationwide face disproportionately severe discipline compared to other girls and receive harsher punishments than their white peers for similar behaviors.

Congressional Student App Challenge

The first annual congressional science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) academic competition, the House Student App Challenge, is officially underway. Established by the U.S. House of Representatives in 2013, this competition is a nationwide event that invites high school students from all participating congressional districts to compete by creating and exhibiting their software application, or “app,” for mobile, tablet, or computer devices on a platform of their choice.
