Chicago, IL - In honor of Fathers' Day, Congresswoman Robin Kelly convened a Congressional Caucus on Black Women and Girls Forum to highlight the often-overlooked contributions of African American fathers to the successful development of their daughters. The event was held at the YMCA on Chicago South Side.
The Congressional Caucus on Black Women and Girls is the first and only caucus to specifically address the needs of black women and girls, their families and their communities.

Every day in America, an average of around 300 men, women, and children are shot, 93 of them fatally.
"A New Foundation for America" is a peculiar title for President Trump's new budget because it erodes the very foundation of our great nation: our farming communities.
At the 30,000-foot level, Trump's budget cuts $38 billion from Farm Bill programs that help Illinois farmers feed our nation and the world. It also includes a more than 20 percent cut to the Department of Agriculture, meaning higher crop insurance premiums and less marketing support.

Nearly every day, I pick up this paper and read about gridlock and partisanship gripping Congress. The 24-hour TV news cycle reminds us of it by the second and magazines aren't much better.
To any extent, they are right. Washington is caught in a partisan bind but at the end of the day, the American people want Congress to do our job, work together and get things done.

For years, policymakers have known that the NRA's "guns everywhere — background checks nowhere" policy means more dead Americans and a country that's less safe.
Yet, instead of using common sense, we stand by and allow 30,000 Americans to die every year.
Tragically, the NRA's dangerous policies have found a new supporter: ISIS.
