Washington, D.C. – Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement highlighting Congressional Black Caucus Health Braintrust Chair Dr. Robin Kelly's 2015 Kelly Report on Health Disparities in America:

"Congresswoman Kelly's 2015 report shines a bright light on one of the urgent moral challenges before America: inequality in health.

Today, Robin Kelly (D-Illinois), Reps. Carolyn Maloney (D-New York), Patrick Meehan (R-Pennsylvania), Elijah Cummings (D-Maryland), Peter T. King (R- New York), Mike Fitzpatrick (R-Pennsylvania), Dan Donovan (R- New York), and Tammy Duckworth (D- Illinois) are re-introducing a bipartisan bill in the House of Representatives to make firearms trafficking a federal crime and impose stronger penalties for "straw purchasers" who buy guns for convicted felons and others who are prohibited from buying guns on their own.

After careful consideration, I have decided to support the Iranian Nuclear Deal. This is not a decision I arrived at lightly. Over the past few weeks, I listened to the opinions and concerns of my constituents and met with people from all walks of life. I heard impassioned arguments on both sides of the issue. It's clear that Americans want security against the threat of a nuclear Iran. This deal, while certainly not perfect, is the best option available to us in preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.

Congresswoman Kelly told more than 100 small business owners from the Matteson area that with the closing of Lincoln Mall and the decline of traditional malls everywhere, it is vital to adapt a new model of shopping that will appeal to younger generations of shoppers.

Congresswoman Robin Kelly completed a two-day Agricultural Tour through Kankakee County today, with stops at the Kankakee Chamber of Commerce, several farms and a grain handling facility.

Congresswoman Robin Kelly (D-IL) issued the following statement in response to the Obama administration's announcement of a nuclear agreement with Iran:

"After two long years of negotiations, and two decades of sanctions, the U.S. and international community have achieved an important victory in preventing a nuclear armed Iran. I commend the President, Secretary Kerry and Secretary Moniz for their leadership, tireless negotiations and willingness to extend an olive branch to usher in a more secure future in the Middle East and global community.
