WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Robin Kelly's bill, H.R. 4387, the Maternal Health Quality Improvement Act, passed out of markup in the House Energy and Commerce Committee. Rep. Kelly introduced the bipartisan legislation in July along with Reps. Alma Adams of North Carolina and Jahana Hayes of Connecticut, and Republican colleagues Larry Bucshon of Indiana, Michael Burgess of Texas and Bob Latta of Ohio. This bill will soon advance to the House floor for final passage.

Washington, DC - Congresswoman Robin Kelly, chair of the Congressional Black Caucus Health Braintrust, released this statement following the announcement of a vote on Zombie TrumpCare:

"It shows a callous lack of courage for Republicans to make stealing from MediCare, passing an 'age tax' and voting to strip millions of Americans of health insurance, the last thing they do before skipping town for recess.

This is a disastrous follow-up to the GOP's first health proposal. Somehow this bill managed to be worse than the original TrumpCare bill that was scrapped.
