ICYMI: US Rep. Robin Kelly presented Village of Campus with $1.3 million for water improvement project

Campus, IL. – Congresswoman Robin Kelly (IL-02) and USDA Rural Development presented a check of $1.32 million to the Village of Campus for water system improvements. This funding is part of the USDA Rural Development’s Water and Waste Disposal Loan & Grants Program and includes an additional $650,000 loan from the agency. Planned improvements include water-main valve replacement, new fire hydrants and the installation of new water meters.
“Replacing our nation's aging water infrastructure is not just a matter of convenience; it is a necessity,” said Congresswoman Robin Kelly. “I am proud to help our communities in the Second District get the federal resources they need to reinvest in their water infrastructure and secure their future.”
“On behalf of the Village of Campus, I can’t thank MG2A Engineering, Julie Beer from USDA Rural Development, our State Representative Jason Bunting, and Congresswoman Robin Kelly enough for all the work put forward in securing this federal grant for our village,” said Village President Butch Galeaz. “This project was a long time coming and will ensure quality water to the community for years to come.”
“We are thrilled the Village of Campus has received a Water & Waste Disposal Loan and Grant through USDA Rural Development to help maintain and improve the integrity of their water system,” said Molly Hammond, Acting Illinois State Director. “Rural Development investments like these help rural communities gain access to clean, reliable drinking water and are fundamental to the health, economic viability and quality of life both today and years to come.”
