Congresswoman Kelly Nominates Local High School Students to Military Academies

Congresswoman Robin Kelly has nominated high school students from the 2nd Congressional District for admission to the three United States military academies.

"It's with great pride that I nominate these extraordinary young men and women to attend our nation's finest military academies," Congresswoman Kelly said. "They have earned their nominations through hard work, discipline, and an abiding willingness to serve our nation. They will represent the 2nd Congressional District and our country with honor and distinction."

Rep. Kelly nominated the following students for admission to the Class of 2024:

U.S. Military Academyat West Point, New York:

  • Nicholas Fraser of Manteno
  • Beckett Clasen of Chicago Heights
  • James-Darryl Yzaguirre of Woodbridge, VA
  • Jaylen Burns of Country Club Hills

U.S. Air Force Academyin Colorado Springs, Colorado:

  • Zachary Randazzo of Bourbonnais
  • Kenneth Blue III of Country Club Hills
  • Nicholas Fraser of Manteno
  • James-Darryl Yzaguirre of Woodbridge, VA
  • Desmond Kelly of Markham
  • Cameron Watts of Chicago

U.S. Naval Academyat Annapolis, Maryland:

  • Cesar Sanchez of Chicago
  • Josephine Nunley of Chicago
  • David Winicky of Homewood
  • Toby Perez of Sauk Village
  • Beckett Clasen of Chicago Heights
  • Nicholas Fraser of Manteno
  • Desmond Kelly of Markham
  • James-Darryl Yzaguirre of Woodbridge, VA

Each academy will review the list of students nominated by the Congresswoman and select the finalists for admission as cadets. The academies have an extremely competitive application process and are ranked annually among the best colleges in America. Upon graduation, the cadets become U.S. military officers and typically serve at least five years in the armed services.
