Congresswoman Kelly Hosts Sixth COVID19 Response Call with Regional Elected Officials
Matteson, IL – On Wednesday, Congresswoman Robin Kelly hosted a telephone conference call with state and county elected officials from 2nd Congressional District to answer questions, share information and coordinate resources to better assist local communities.
"Having served at the local, county, state and federal level, I understand how important it is for our offices to pool our knowledge, coordinate our resources, and brainstorm ideas to best respond to this crisis facing our communities," Congresswoman Kelly said. "The best path forward is together, and that means local, state and federal offices working jointly."
During the call, Congresswoman Kelly shared information about the $2 trillion dollar coronavirus response package and discussed potential additional relief legislation, including expanded investments in small businesses, hospitals, food assistance, community health centers and PPE. Local officials shared information about local efforts to extend deadlines and provide loans and technical assistance to small businesses and gig workers.
This call was the sixth in the Congresswoman's series discussing the existing response legislation and collecting ideas for future measures. She will be hosting calls with local first responders (April 9th), farmers and agricultural workers (April 14th) and superintendents (April 16th).
