Congresswoman Kelly Announces Second Federal Grant to Museum of Science and Industry for STEM learning
Matteson, IL—Congresswoman Robin Kelly (IL02) announced today that the Museum of Science and Industry has been awarded a second federal grant for STEM learning. The $98,157 grant will research and identify best practices used by STEM-centered schools to promote STEM equity and diversity.
Last week, the museum received a $1.2 million federal grant that will allow the museum to directly connect students with specific field trip experiences linked to STEM careers.
"This latest research grant will study culturally-responsive programming with the goal of enhancing learning and increasing diversity in STEM-based schools," said Congresswoman Kelly. "I'm pleased that the Museum of Science and Industry is committed to improving diversity in STEM education and the STEM workforce."
The grant was awarded by the National Science Foundation, a government agency that funds research and education in the fields of science and engineering with the goal of advancing economic growth in America.
