Congresswoman Kelly Slams Trump Administration’s So-Called Immigration Policy Proposal

May 16, 2019

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Robin Kelly released this statement concerning the White House's immigration proposal supposedly crafted by Presidential son-in-law, Jared Kushner:

"This plan is dead on arrival and not even worth the paper it's printed on.

Instead of recognizing and celebrating our nation's rich immigrant heritage – something that should be close to this President's heart given his mother and wife are both immigrants, this White House has instead decided to pander to its hardline base.

The so-called proposal from the Trump Administration continues to cruelly ignore our DREAMers, American kids who know no other home than this great country. It also fails to address the millions who are living in the shadows, paying taxes and raising American families.

In short, this extremist proposal will be ignored by Democrats, Independents and moderate Republicans who know we need a real, comprehensive solution, not partisan and base-pleasing talking points."
