On why she's pushing to improve maternal health

House lawmakers are pushing a bill that would make it easier for states to provide Medicaid coverage to new mothers for a longer period of time, in the hopes it will curb the rate of women dying from complications after giving birth.

Democrats and Republicans often don't agree on who should be covered by Medicaid, which provides health care for low-income individuals. But the number of women experiencing pregnancy-related health problems—killing 700 women per year—has brought lawmakers to the table to look for ways to improve access to and quality of postpartum care.

Now, the I-Team is investigating a loophole linking recent high profile shootings: Criminals getting around gun safety laws by exploiting legal sales.

In last month's battlefield in Culiacan, Mexico connected to the arrest of El Chapo's son, the combatants were armed with heavy weaponry of an ongoing cartel arms race. The I-Team has uncovered that that arms race now stretches to Illinois.

With people filling a room at Olympia Fields Village Hall for a ceremony naming that suburb's post office in honor of her late father, Gabrielle Martin said her dad would have been surprised at "all the fuss."

A member of the famed Tuskegee Airmen who flew dozens of missions in World War II and was downed by enemy fire, Robert Martin might have simply shrugged his shoulders and said "I was just trying to do my job the best I could do," Gabrielle, one of his three daughters, said.

Matteson, Ill. — Several job seekers were surprised to walk away with jobs at Congresswoman Robin L. Kelly's recent annual hiring event at the Lan-Oak Park District in Lansing, Ill.

"We're thrilled to learn that employers hired some people immediately at the job fair," said Kelly, who represents Illinois' 2nd congressional district. "Every year, we're impressed by the high caliber of hard-working people within the district attending the job fair. Obviously, employers saw their talent as well and did not hesitate to hire them," she stated.

"Queer Eye" star Jonathan Van Ness discussed the Equality Act, which would codify civil rights protections for LGBT people, with Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) after meeting with her Thursday.

"'We have to pass the Equality Act' @speakerpelosi said to me," Van Ness shared on Instagram after meeting with Pelosi. "I said, with Mitch McConnell how?? Speaker Pelosi said, (I'm paraphrasing here) the voters in states with Republican Senators MUST put pressure on their Senators to force McConnell to bring the #equalityact up to vote."
