Congresswoman Kelly Speaks at STEM Symposium at South Suburban College
Congresswoman Robin Kelly welcomed high school and college students to the Second Annual STEM Symposium at South Suburban College on Friday.
The Symposium encouraged young people to consider a variety of careers in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, and provided them with an opportunity to connect with other students and display their talents. Presenters included representatives from the fields of astronomy, advanced manufacturing, healthcare, building construction, agriculture, and more.
“We’re grateful to South Suburban College for hosting this event to showcase the rewarding careers that are available to our young people,” Congresswoman Kelly said. “This symposium is especially important to our region, because there are not enough women and people of color pursuing STEM career opportunities. One of my top priorities as a federal lawmaker is to continue to promote educational curricula better aligned to the needs of STEM employers. South Suburban College, along with other regional educational institutions, are doing an incredible job of correlating their programs of study and preparing our young people to meet the needs of the 21st Century workforce.”
