Congresswoman Kelly’s 5th Annual Hiring Event Draws More than 300 Job-Seekers
More than 300 job-seekers attended a Hiring Event hosted by Congresswoman Robin Kelly at South Suburban College on Friday.
The 5th annual Hiring Event featured more than 70 companies and agencies with active job openings, including Amazon, Nike, UPS, ComEd,, the U.S. Post Office, Franciscan Health, MiJack and the Cook County Sheriff’s Department.
Prior to the Hiring Event, Rep. Kelly hosted a free Job Search Boot Camp in Calumet City, where instructors from the Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership taught job-seekers interview skills, how to prepare a resume, and strategies to successfully navigate hiring events.
“Every year, my goal is to connect my hard-working constituents with new and better opportunities — not only first-time job-seekers but also those seeking a new career or better pay,” Congresswoman Kelly said. “An important part of the American Dream is upward mobility. The people of the 2nd District are incredibility talented and desire more challenging work, higher wages and a better life. This year, job-seekers from every age group had a chance to meet more than 70 employers who are hiring right now. I’m pleased to provide a community-based, open forum for job opportunities that can only invigorate our neighborhoods and local economies.”
Rep. Kelly hosts a Hiring Event every year in October and an annual Youth Job Fair and Resource Expo each April. For more information about future Hiring Events and resource expos hosted by Congresswoman Kelly, access www.robinkelly.house.gov.
