Congresswoman Kelly Elected to Democratic Leadership Post
Washington, DC – Yesterday, Congresswoman Robin Kelly was unanimously elected as the Region IV representative to the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee.
“I am deeply humbled and grateful to my neighbors and colleagues for this vote of confidence in me. I will work hard to put the bread-and-butter issues that matter to Midwest families front and center in the Democratic agenda for the 116th Congress,” said Congresswoman Kelly.
Congresswoman Kelly will replace Congressman Andre Carson (IN) who was term limited.
The powerful House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee is responsible for recommending committee assignments, setting the Democratic agenda and holding hearings on vital issues affecting the nation. Region IV is comprised of Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Oklahoma and Missouri; four new Members of Congress were elected in this region during the 2018 midterm.
