A rally called “National Day of Action on Gun Violence Prevention” was hosted today by Representatives Robin Kelly, Jan Schakowsky, Bill Foster, Danny Davis, Mike Quigley and Steny Hoyer. Similar rallies were held across the country today to continue conveying the urgency for gun reform initiated on the House floor last week.
Congresswoman Robin Kelly, ranking member of the U.S. House Subcommittee on Information Technology, hosted a Field Hearing today to hear views from business leaders on how effectively federal cyber laws and regulations have been working since the enactment of the landmark Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act of 2015. Reps. Robin Kelly (D-IL), David E. Price (D-NC), Rosa DeLauro (D-CT), Nita Lowey (D-NY), and Mike Quigley (D-IL) led 110 Democratic colleagues in urging House leadership to end the longstanding de facto ban on federal funding for gun violence research.
At least fifteen U.S. Senators and 10 U.S. Representatives joined together to introduce a resolution in the House & Senate establishing June 2nd as “National Gun Violence Awareness Day” and designating June as “National Gun Violence Awareness Month.” Every day in America, an average of 297 men, women and children are shot, 91 of them fatally.
